Welcome to Physical Education 2121!!!  We are really excited about this class this semester!  We have made plans for this course to make it fun and interesting!!  So come prepared to have a blast!

Course Description
 
In this class we will learn about health and fitness.  The students are going to learn about nutrition as well as different individual sports that they can use to have fun while they are exercising.  Many people think that the only way to work out is to run, but we are going to teach so many different ways to exercise while having fun.

Course Philosophy
 
My philosophy is that all students need a better understanding of physical education.  Also, my philosophy is to help students understand the importance of becoming and staying physically fit, for a healthy life.  I believe I am here to maximize each students potential as well as their self-respect.

Semester Outline
  • Unit 1:
  • Learn how (and what) to eat healthy.  Learn how to determine heart rate and blood pressure and learn where yours should be.  Learn how to become and stay active, your whole life.  The students will also role play healthy decisions.  The students will watch a video.
  • Learn how to lift weights properly.  Learn what and how much to lift for the results you want.  Learn how to do a proper stretch, warm-up and cool-down.
  • Cooperative games.
  • Unit 2:
  • Basic badminton.  Learn how to keep score, and the rules.  Learn different hits.  Play singles and doubles.
  • Fitness walking/jogging.  Learn how walking can improve your health.  Discuss the benefits of fitness walking.  The students will make out their own course and master it.
  • Unit 3:
  • Flag football.  The students will learn how to throw, kick and understand the rules.  Play flag football with small teams.
  • Aerobics.  Learn different steps and moves.  The students will make up their own routine.
  • Student choice week!  The students will pick an activity of their choice that they learned in the first three units.  This will help review what we have learned.
  • Unit 4:
  • Frisbee Golf.  Learn how to hold and release the Frisbee.  Learn the rules and how to keep score.  Play on the park course.
  • Kick ball.  Learn the rules and how to keep score.  Learn the proper ways to kick.  Play kick ball.
  • Unit 5:
  • Golf.  Learn the rules of golf.  Learn how to hold a club, how to putt and how to drive.  The students will go to the field to drive, chip and set up our own putt-putt course.
  • Soccer.  Learn the rules, how to keep score, how to kick, score, dribble and throw in.  Play with small teams and 2 balls in each game.
  • Unit 6:
  • Tennis.  Learn the rules, how to keep score, how to hold a racket, serve, backhand, and some strategies to becoming a good tennis player.
  • Wiffleball.  Learn how to hold a bat properly, swing/hit, catch and throw.  Understand the basic rules.
  • Student choice week!  Students will get to choose between everything we have done.  On the very last day we will take a final over rules, healthy living and how to keep score for each activity.

Class Rules and Regulations:
 
1.  Students must be on time to class.
2.  Students must be dressed in proper workout attire and ready to participate.
3.  Students need to respect other students and instructors.
4.  Students need to follow all directions and keep there hands to thereself.
5.  No chewing gum
 
 
Grading  Policy
  • Cognitive - 35% ~ The students will take quizzes over the rules of the sports/games and class rules.
  • Psychomotor - 15% ~ The students will have skills tests over each unit to see that  you understand the skill.
  • Affective - 50% ~ This depends on a daily grade of: dressing out, being on time in your spot, willing to participate and learn
